Top 18 Stunning South Florida Locations for Wedding and Engagement Photoshoots

 

South Florida has some of the most beautiful beaches, parks, and waterfronts in the country. It’s no wonder so many brides and grooms choose to tie the knot here! Whether you want to shoot your engagement photos, elope, or looking for a proposal photoshoot spot, South Florida has so many breathtaking locations that it can be hard to choose. So we’ve done some of the work for you! Here are our favorite locations for your wedding or anniversary photoshoot:

BEACHES:

We know this is a popular spot for taking pictures, but it's worth repeating. With so many stunning beaches to select from, you'll be spoiled with choices! It is recommended that you visit during the weekday morning hours. Because of the reduced crowds and milder temperatures, you will be able to witness a spectacular sunrise here. Plus, with the wide variety of settings you'll be able to capture all sorts of different moods and vibes in your photos.

1) Blowing Rocks Preserve

Blowing Rocks Preserve is located on Jupiter Island,just outside of South Florida but we HAD to include it! This area is so unique it looks like it isn't even in Florida! With its rocky coastline, the preserve has been compared to the shores of Maine. The rocks are large limestone boulders that are visible at low tide. When high tide and waves crash against them, they shoot water up to 50 feet into the air. Blowing Rocks Preserve is open from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. daily and admission costs $3/person or $5/carload (3-8 people).

2) South Pointe Park, South Beach

This park has some of the best views in Miami. The South Pointe Park Pier is located at the southernmost tip of South Beach and provides a great location for photos. You can also take engagement pictures in the park's gardens or along its waterfront walkways.


3) Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park, Key Biscayne

With over 1,000 acres of land and sea on Key Biscayne, there's a lot to see at the Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park. Take your wedding photos by the old lighthouse built in 1825 or on any of the park's nature trails.

4) Historic Virginia Key Beach

 Historic Virginia Key Beach is a secluded location with a gorgeous view of the Miami skyline. This location has a mixture of sand, sea, and nature. If you're lucky, you might even catch some dolphins playing in the distance during your photoshoot!

5) The Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse

The Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse is the oldest standing structure in Palm Beach County. With incredible views, lush vegetation, and an abundance of wildlife, this location is perfect for couples who want to capture their love in a natural setting.

6) Vizcaya Museum + Gardens, Miami

This historic estate built in 1914 by James Deering (founder of International Harvester Company) was modeled after Italian villas from the 16th and 17th centuries. Vizcaya Museum & Gardens is perfect for any couple who wants a romantic and regal backdrop to their photos. With 32 rooms spread over 34,000 square feet and 10 acres of formal gardens, this estate has plenty of beautiful spots to choose from. (approx. $250 – $350).

7) Ancient Spanish Monastery, North Miami

It offers beautiful indoor and outdoor scenery, with a timeless feel, and romance. The grounds and architecture make for great photos, especially if you're looking for a whimsical style. There are also plenty of hidden spots; perfect for something more colorful or intimate. This location has been featured in many movies, including Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls, Trading Mom, and Barry Lydon. The North Miami site can be a busy place during the day, but if you get there early enough or wait until after sunset, you will be able to take some amazing photos that will stand out from the rest. A photography permit is required to shoot at this location (approx. $200).

8) Bonnet House, Fort Lauderdale

This beautiful 35-acre estate is located on the Intracoastal waterway. The Bonnet House grounds were originally owned by Hugh Taylor Birch in 1895 as a wedding gift to his daughter Helen and her husband Chicago artist Frederic Clay Bartlett. Bonnet House provides beautiful backdrops for photos with a variety of tropical plants, a butterfly garden, an orchid house, and the historic Bonnet House home itself. Entrance fees are required to shoot at this location (approx. $20pp).

9) The Deering Estate, Miami

The Deering Estate is a favorite of ours. We love it because of its versatile architecture, the way it blends with the landscape, and the natural beauty that surrounds it. It's a great location for an engagement shoot and has plenty of space to accommodate wedding parties and family portraits. The estate is also home to some lovely gardens, gorgeous trees and unique architecture. It has a variety of indoor and outdoor spaces for photos, pathways through the gardens, open fields and waterfront views.

10) The Biltmore Hotel, Miami

The Biltmore Hotel serves as a backdrop for incredible wedding photography. The sprawling Mediterranean-style hotel has been recognized as one of the most beautiful resorts in the world. It features more than 150 guest rooms and suites, an 18-hole golf course designed by Donald Ross, a spa, five restaurants, a meeting space, and a swimming pool that has appeared in films like "Bad Boys II" and "Any Given Sunday."


GARDENS & PARKS:

Couples that appreciate the splendor of nature will enjoy their time here. Picturesque parks abound, each one surrounded by lush tropical flora and fauna, making for an ideal backdrop for your next photoshoot. This is a fantastic location for outdoor-loving couples!

11) Wolf lake, Davie

This lake is just gorgeous with bright blue waters surrounded by towering pine trees! We love taking photos here because it is so versatile and different from everything else in South Florida. You can do a casual outfit with boots or go all out with a gown and it will still look amazing.

12) Fairchild Botanic Gardens, Coral Gables

The lush tropical oasis that is Fairchild Tropical Botanical Garden is definitely a favorite for any couple looking for a truly tropical location for their photoshoot. You will forget you are in Miami as you wander through the beautiful gardens that are sure to capture a timeless moment between you and your loved one. A photography fee is required to shoot at this location (approx. $100 – $200).

13) Morikami Japanese Gardens, Delray Beach

Located in Boca Raton, Morikami offers so much variety in their beautiful outdoor areas. There are bridges, bonsai gardens, a bamboo forest, waterfalls, and even a gorgeous red bridge to walk over. We always enjoy photographing at the Morikami Gardens because we can always find new locations to take portraits.The venue requires a small entrance fee per adult (approx $15pp).

14) Robbins Preserve, Davie

Robbins Preserve located in Davie is a quaint location that has a few different areas to shoot. The first spot you will see is the wooden boardwalk with mangroves on the right and water on the left. I love this spot because of the dreamy reflections in the water and you can even get shots of the sunset behind you if you time it right. There are also tons of birds around, so you can get some unique bird shots while you’re there too!

15) Ann Norton, West Palm Beach

The Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens are where nature and art meet. Full of art from Ann Weaver Norton, these gardens feature large sculptures in a botanical setting. This is a great ceremony location for the artsy at heart, as well as being a perfect spot for couples’ photos. The scenery is absolutely beautiful and one of a kind.


 

URBAN:

Having one of the world's most artistic cities as a backdrop means that every photograph will be a work of art.

16) Wynwood, Miami

For couples who want something more urban and edgy, Wynwood Walls located in the heart of Miami’s art district has so many colorful walls filled with stunning


 

17) Downtown Hollywood | Young Circle

Hollywood has an amazing collection of art deco architecture that makes it perfect for photos. The landmark building on Young Circle is a great backdrop for classic photos, as well as more modern shots. It also provides a wide variety of angles and lighting opportunities for photographers.


18) FATVillage, Fort Lauderdale

FATVillage is a creative district in downtown Fort Lauderdale. It has the most colorful wall murals, graffiti, and graffiti-inspired artworks. It is also home to a number of art studios, galleries and even a retro arcade bar that provide the most unique backdrop for your photoshoot.
